Training
Schooling is compulsory and free for children between 5
and 14 years. The role model is the United States school
organization. Most children go through compulsory school. Of
the adult population, almost 30% (1997) are non-literate. In
addition to state schools, there are also church and
private. Belize lacks a university, but since 1980 there is
a college of arts, science and technology. See TOPSCHOOLSINTHEUSA for TOEFL, ACT, SAT testing locations and high school codes in Belize.

The ruling UDP won the elections in November 2015 and at the
same time went 2 terms up to 19. Prime Minister Barrow could
thus continue in office.
In December 2015, Belize banned drilling within 1 km of
its coral reef to protect the reef from destruction.
However, the destruction of the reef has already progressed
as a result of uncontrolled tourism and fishing. However,
the worst problem is global warming, which alone has
destroyed 40% of the reef since 1998.
