Delaware is located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, nestled between Pennsylvania and Maryland. The state is bordered to the north by Pennsylvania, to the east by the Delaware Bay, to the south by Maryland, and to the west by Delaware River. Delaware is divided into three counties: New Castle County, Kent County, and Sussex County. The state’s largest city is Wilmington.
The geography of Delaware is quite varied. It has rolling hills in some areas, flat plains in others, and lowlands along its coastlines. The Appalachian Mountains run through northern Delaware near Wilmington. In addition, there are several marshes and swamps near its coastlines along with several small lakes such as Silver Lake and Big Lake near Dover. Primary Schools
Delaware is home to many top-notch primary schools, such as the Brandywine School District, the Christina School District, and the Appoquinimink School District. The Brandywine School District is composed of 15 elementary schools, three middle schools, and three high schools located throughout Wilmington. It offers a rigorous curriculum with a strong focus on technology and science. The Christina School District is comprised of 24 elementary schools, five middle schools and four high schools located in Wilmington and surrounding areas. It provides a wide range of educational opportunities for students, including honors classes and Advanced Placement courses. Finally, the Appoquinimink School District has 25 elementary schools, six middle schools, and four high schools located in Middletown and Odessa. This district also offers a comprehensive curriculum with an emphasis on STEM education and career exploration. Additionally, there are numerous private and charter schools throughout the state such as Wilmington Friends School and Tower Hill School. These schools provide a rigorous academic curriculum with an emphasis on college preparation. Higher Education
Delaware is home to several top-notch colleges and universities. The University of Delaware, located in Newark, is the state’s flagship university and one of the best public schools in the country.
