According to INDEXDOTCOM, Montana is located in the western United States and is bordered by North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. It is the fourth largest state in the country with a total area of 147,042 square miles. The Rocky Mountains run through the western part of Montana, while the Great Plains make up much of the eastern portion. The highest peak in Montana is Granite Peak at 12,807 feet above sea level. Other notable mountains are Beartooth Butte and Chief Joseph Mountain. Montana also boasts many rivers such as the Missouri River, Yellowstone River, and Clark Fork River. It also contains many lakes such as Flathead Lake and Lake McDonald. The climate in Montana is generally semi-arid with cold winters and hot summers. According to SIMPLYYELLOWPAGES, Montana is home to a variety of public and private universities. The University of Montana, located in Missoula, is the state’s flagship university. It is well-known for its strong programs in medicine, business, and law. Additionally, the University of Montana offers a wide range of degree programs in fields such as education, engineering, humanities, and natural sciences. Montana State University (MSU) is located in Bozeman and consists of six campuses throughout the state. MSU offers over 200 degree programs ranging from accounting to wildlife biology. The school also has a renowned Honors College and an active student life with more than 300 student organizations. Montana Tech in Butte is the state’s top engineering school and provides students with a strong foundation in mathematics and science courses as well as hands-on learning opportunities through research projects and internships. Other notable universities in Montana include Rocky Mountain College (Billings), Carroll College (Helena), Great Falls College-Montana State University (Great Falls), Salish Kootenai College (Pablo), Little Big Horn College (Crow Agency), Blackfeet Community College (Browning), Flathead Valley Community College (Kalispell), Miles Community College (Miles City) and Fort Peck Community College (Poplar).
