According to INDEXDOTCOM, North Dakota is located in the northern midwestern region of the United States. It is bordered by South Dakota to the south, Minnesota to the east, Montana to the west and Canada to the north. The state has an area of 70,762 square miles, making it the 19th largest in size among all US states. The terrain of North Dakota is mostly flat or rolling plains, with low hills and rugged badlands located in the western part of the state. Much of the state is covered by grasslands and prairies, with forests found mainly in river valleys. The Missouri River forms much of North Dakota’s eastern border with South Dakota, while other rivers like Red River and Sheyenne River flow through its interior. Lake Sakakawea forms a large portion of its western border with Montana and is a popular destination for fishing and boating. According to SIMPLYYELLOWPAGES, North Dakota is home to 11 public and private universities. The public universities are the University of North Dakota, North Dakota State University, Valley City State University, Dickinson State University, Mayville State University, Minot State University, and Williston State College. Private universities include the University of Mary in Bismarck, Jamestown College in Jamestown, Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, Rasmussen College in Fargo and the Sitting Bull College in Fort Yates. The universities offer a wide range of degree programs ranging from certificates to doctoral degrees. Many of the schools have nationally ranked programs and faculty members who are well-respected leaders in their fields. The universities offer hands-on learning experiences with internships, research projects and other experiential learning opportunities for students to gain valuable knowledge and skills.
