The abbreviation for Poland is PL. The “P” stands for Polska, which is the Polish word for “Poland”, and the “L” stands for Rzeczpospolita Polska, which translates to “Republic of Poland”. Poland is a country located in Central Europe, bordered by Germany to the west, Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south, Belarus and Ukraine to the east and Lithuania and Kaliningrad Oblast (a Russian exclave) to the north. Today Poland is a thriving democracy with a growing economy that has experienced rapid growth since joining the European Union in 2004. Its capital city of Warsaw is an international business hub with numerous companies headquartered there while Krakow is one of Europe’s most beautiful cities with stunning architecture from centuries past mixed with modern amenities today. Dziennik Gazeta Prawna is another major newspaper which was founded in 1990 as a legal supplement to Rzeczpospolita but grew to become one of the leading newspapers in Poland with a circulation of over 250,000 copies daily. This paper focuses mainly on legal matters but also covers economic issues, business news and other topics such as culture, entertainment and sports from sources such as Reuters, Associated Press and Agence France-Presse.
