The abbreviation for Spain is ES which comes from the English phrase ‘Spain’. It is a country located in southwestern Europe and is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the south and east, Portugal to the west and France to the north. It has a population of over 46 million people with Spanish as its official language. Spain has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons: spring (April-May), summer (June-August), autumn (September-November) and winter (December-March). Its terrain consists mostly of high plateaus, mountains, and coastal plains. The country is home to many natural attractions such as Teide National Park in Tenerife which features stunning volcanic landscapes; or Donana National Park in Andalusia which boasts abundant wildlife. Spain also has many cultural attractions such as Prado Museum in Madrid which showcases works of art from pre-colonial times; traditional markets such as La Boqueria Market where you can find everything from food to clothes; or churches like La Sagrada Familia where visitors can experience ancient rituals first-hand. Moreover there are numerous festivals throughout the year such as Las Fallas in Valencia or Semana Santa in Seville where visitors can experience local culture first-hand. In terms of international relations, Spain maintains close ties with its European neighbors such as France, Germany and Italy; it is also a member of regional organizations including European Union (EU), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The most prominent newspaper in Spain is El País, which was founded in 1976 and is considered to be one of the most influential newspapers in Spain. It covers topics such as politics, culture, economy, education, health care and sports from both local and international perspectives. Additionally it also features opinion pieces by prominent writers from across the country discussing various topics related to Spanish culture and society. El Mundo is another popular newspaper which focuses on business news with an emphasis on economic developments in Spain. It also provides comprehensive coverage of political developments from both local and international perspectives. Additionally it also provides a comprehensive overview of economic updates from around the world. ABC is another major paper which focuses on lifestyle topics such as fashion, travel, food, health and entertainment. Other notable newspapers include La Vanguardia which covers current events; Expansión which publishes articles related to business; Marca which specializes in sports news; OhmyNews magazine which covers culture; Parenting magazine which is a family-focused publication; and Culture Plus magazine which specializes in cultural topics. All these publications provide readers with an insight into life in Spain as well as helping them stay informed about current events happening around the world.
