According to INDEXDOTCOM, Washington is located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It borders Oregon to the south, Idaho to the east, and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta to the north. The Cascade Mountains run through Washington from north to south, with Mount Rainier as its highest peak at 14,411 feet. The state is divided into two major climatic regions: western Washington has a temperate oceanic climate while eastern Washington has a semi-arid continental climate. The eastern part of the state is characterized by rolling hills and mountains while western Washington is known for its lush green forests and snow-capped peaks. The coastline of Washington is dotted with numerous bays, inlets, islands, and peninsulas which make up part of the Pacific Coast Marine Trail. According to SIMPLYYELLOWPAGES, Washington is home to a wide range of universities offering a variety of educational opportunities. Some of the most well-known universities include the University of Washington, Washington State University, Seattle University, Gonzaga University, and Whitworth University. These universities are all well-regarded for their academic excellence, with each offering an array of degree programs in a variety of disciplines. Additionally, many of these universities offer specialized programs such as honors programs and research opportunities. In addition to these larger institutions, Washington is also home to many smaller colleges and universities that provide focused areas of study in addition to a more personalized learning environment.
