According to INDEXDOTCOM, Wisconsin is located in the north-central United States and is bordered by Minnesota to the west, Michigan to the north, Illinois to the south, and Lake Michigan and Lake Superior to the east. It has a total area of 65,498 square miles and is the 23rd largest state in the country. Wisconsin’s landscape is primarily lowlands with rolling hills and glaciated plains. The highest point in Wisconsin is Timms Hill at 1,951 feet above sea level. The geography of Wisconsin also includes many rivers, including Fox River, Chippewa River, St. Croix River, Milwaukee River, and Menominee River. The state also has over 15000 lakes ranging from small ponds to large bodies of water such as Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. According to SIMPLYYELLOWPAGES, Wisconsin is home to many renowned universities and colleges, including both public and private institutions. The University of Wisconsin System consists of 13 four-year universities, 14 two-year colleges, and a statewide extension program. The University of Wisconsin–Madison is the flagship university of the system and has been recognized as one of the top universities in the world. Other prominent members include University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, UW–La Crosse, UW–Stevens Point, UW–Eau Claire, UW–Green Bay, and UW–Oshkosh. Private universities in Wisconsin include Marquette University, Beloit College, Carroll University, Lawrence University, Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), St. Norbert College, Concordia University Wisconsin, and Edgewood College.
